HEAVY METAL

It's the sound of being badass! It's functionally the soundtrack to the coolest, baddest guys there are. If you see a guy in sick armor, you just know inside that thing he's listening to Heavy Metal, whether the boomers of the genre or the new guys it's almost always a good listen. It's genre defiant in that you can equally imagine these themes existing in the world of LotR or Star Wars. Which of course, Star Wars IS Sci-Fantasy not hard Sci-Fi but you get the point.

One of my favorite bands of the genre is The Sword, particularly their 2010 Studio Album "Warp Riders". It's an excellent peice and you should definitely check it out if you have the time. The now (unfortunately) defunct band Golden God is also one of my favorites, they've only got one album though. That doesn't stop be from listening to it all the time however. They're the only band I know that makes heavy metal songs about the Elder Scrolls, and by songs I mean they made one about Pelinal Whitestrake and it's definitely one of the peaks of their album. My favorite song from them has to be Copper and Tin, a song about the utmost cruelty of the ancient execution device known as the Brazen Bull. If we wanna talk about bands that I doubt anyone knows I recently discovered a small trio named Anguish, they're right outta Motorcity (Detroit) and they make some good music, but their last release was in 2019 so I have a feeling they aren't exactly together any more. Still, if you wanna listen, this is their Bandcamp page. And, of course, I couldn't talk metal without at least bringing up Black Sabbath. Definitely one of my favorite artists but I saved that opinion for last since it isn't exactly... interesting.

Now, we couldn't bring up Heavy Metal at all if I didn't mention the absolute masterpiece of a film that is, Heavy Metal, and the magazine that created it. [[SPOILERS FOR HEAVY METAL]] Over all, I'm just too lazy to explain the actual full plot and all the stories in the movie but basically there's a big green orb that's the primordial representation of all evil and it's a collection of stories about how that evil exists through out the world. That doesn't do the movie justice at all and if you haven't watched already you really need to because it's definitely one of the best movies of all time, especially with the technicalities and impressive nature of some of the animated shots. One of my favorite is in the last story when the warrior lady is on her pterodactyl looking thing and the shot follows her through the canyons of the desert planet. Over all my favorite story is definitely the one with Den in it and totally not because I really wish I could magically transform into a super warrior who KICKS TOTAL ASS! But of course, everyone wants to do that, most definitely, either way, that guy is sweet. Also he's voiced by John Candy and I will always watch and like any movie with John Candy in it. R.I.P. King. Also the scene in the end of that one where its the lady and the dude wrestling over the stupid staff is just too funny.
